Fertility Financial Assistance

By Sue Rochman

It’s one thing to seek fertility preservation services. It’s another to be able to afford them. Procedures to retrieve and then freeze eggs or embryos can cost $10,000 or more. Banking sperm is less expensive—at least $500—but for some men that may be out of reach. And health insurance rarely covers fertility preservation services.

For those who face financial constraints, support organizations may offer assistance. One such organization, Fertile Hope, provides free fertility medications, discounted sperm-banking services and discounted egg retrieval and freezing services from reproductive endocrinologists throughout the country via its Sharing Hope program.
