A Hotbed of Cancer

In the U.S., about 181 people out of every 100,000 die of cancer each year. But in most Appalachian states, the rate is much higher: six of the seven states with the highest cancer death rates are part of Appalachia.
The state with the lowest cancer death rate? Utah, with 136 deaths per 100,000 residents.
